Long ago, I purchased the original swim medal that this piece was modeled after at a flea market. It was so beautiful: bronze and small and perfect. I was thoroughly taken in by the delicate crossed oars, clashing fish, and a gently gliding cloud that only comes out after a little wear has created a blush of tarnish.
The other side is more robust. A square-jawed athlete in a bathing cap crawls across a choppy sea, far from the shore and a tiny boat house. It is not fearsome, but it is very, very dramatic.
Neither side of this coin is the correct one. Every day, you may choose between the soft sea and a steely gaze of someone striving.
This simple piece is low-profile, looks great when layered, and perfect for everyday. Since it is highly detailed, it will only look better as you wear it and only needs a light buffing to keep it looking good.
