This is a straight cribbing from my favorite resource, The Public Domain Review- all the historic images that are fit to fairly reproduce!
Ajā’ib al-makhlūqāt wa-gharā’ib al-mawjūdāt, or, Marvels of Things Created and Miraculous Aspects of Things Existing is a classic 13th century work of Islamic literature that explores a range of topic from human medicine to veterinary medicine, plants to astronomy, and beyond.
These featured images have been chosen from the section on "Natural History" and were created in 17th-century Mughal India.
More information and more images may be found via the Islamic Medical Manuscripts portal of the National Library of Medicine. While the Natural History image gallery is the clear winner, the Belles Lettres gallery and the Dietetics and Regimen gallery also possess some lovely illustrations.
After viewing this, I may have to expand the offerings of the Mythic Beasts collection.
